Big bucks never cease to amaze me.  I’ve scouted this place 4 times this summer plus the last 3 days.  I glassed until dark last night, only seeing a few does and a small buck.

Alarm woke me at 4:47 to a stiff south breeze and a billion shimmering stars.  Made coffee, ate granola, and filled up on water until it was time to leave. 

I made it to the deer country about 6:10 and just sat down under a rocky outcropping.  This is what happened:

 

At camp, I decided to leave him alone until evening.  If the wind is right, I might sit on a trail in some cover just below where I saw him disappear this morning.  I know where he feeds when he’s using that country and maybe I can catch him heading back.  If I don’t have the wind, I’ll just glass from afar.  I’ve come to far too spook him now.

You guys are great.  Thanks for the encouragment (and prayers Coryell.)  B. Richards, mostly just using the horses to pack camp in.  Most everything else is on foot from camp (unless I need to pack out a deer 😉 )

“Backstage” on a Rokslide Live Hunt.  Like my table I made?  My friend Ryan Pimentel cut out the paneling for me.  Much better than than trying to type on my lap.  “Laptop” is a misnomer.

5:00pm update  Checked the T-cams No Jalapeño but the good buck he was with today was there. I’m headed out right now. BTW if you “subscribe to entry” below the comment box I think you  get notify if I upate that days post. Someone let us know if  that’s the case.

  2. Robby, do you have phone service where your hunting? I’m just curious on how your able to get a good enough connection to post such good video and content!

    What do you use to charge your electronics in camp?

  9. Matt, I do have cell service, a laptop, iPhone, video cam, and extra batteries. No wonder I have to have horses to get iit all in here. Probably about 12 pounds of electronic gear to make this happen.
