I interviewed Mike Hudgins of Cooper Firearms about their current offering in a lightweight backcountry gun. This Model 54 in the six pound range for short action calibers is a sweet little gun and guaranteed to put ’em in a half-inch group at 100. If you followed my Cooper Model 52 blog posts last fall at “Only Accurate Rifles…”, you know that half- inch is completely doable with a Cooper, even in magnum calibers.
Cooper is also working on a new gun that will be offered in long-action magnum calibers but landing in the six pound range later this year (hopefully). You can follow the discussion in this video
I would love to give this a try. Think this would make a good coyote and wolf gun?
yes, Bruce, especially if you want to hit ’em in the eye!
Can’t wait to see their magnum version.
That is where I shoot when shooting with my bow. In the eye. (3D version only)
