Mountain Lion Rug, Claws

I will be rugging a mountain lion that I shot recently. I have done two bear rugs and am confident in my ability to do a good job on my lion.

My question is what to do with the claws. Should the claws be extended or retracted. If retracted they would not be visible so should I just remove the claws entirely and use them for something else? I would prefer to leave the claws on the rug and retracted but worry that they would be difficult to show off if anyone or myself ever wanted a look.

I would appreciate pictures of mountain lion rugs, specifically the paws and claws to help me decide what to do.

Thank you.

I'm a amateur taxidermist and have a couple rugs. I did this Wolverine and extended the claws they show better than you might think.

Also did a Mountain Lion, but did not take a close up of the feet.

Love my bear rug but I'm not a fan of lion rugs, too cool looking for that...I'd go full body, vertical like it's leaping up to catch a bird. Takes less space that way and very cool looking. Good luck, cats are hard.

Your right, not every joe blow taxidermist can do a good cat. I would say they are the hardest animal to do. You see more bad looking cats than anything else out there.

If you do a rug, I would leave the claws on and have them extended out. Most people seem to go right to the claws while looking at my cat rug.
